Need proof? Here's how you can easily create digital tokens to certify attendance with HeyLayer's Multipass.

Solving a Problem

Faking a certification, degree, or that you attended an event can be reasonably easy to do.

LinkedIn allows you to add degrees, certifications, and awards to your profile. How do you know those are legit? Search for “LinkedIn Fake Accounts,” and the results will show you a few YouTube videos showing you exactly how to make 100 of them.

The movie “Catch Me If You Can” is one example of how to forge your way into almost any profession. The main character made up his credentials through various occupations, including a pilot and a doctor.

How can this be prevented?

Introducing Blockchain Technology

With blockchain technology, information is secure through a decentralized record of transactions.

These details can be stored digitally on the blockchain if you take a class, attend a seminar, or event a special event. Anyone can view it and easily prove that you were there because you hold the token saying so.

Creating Tokens

Ok, saving to the blockchain sounds impressive. But high-tech and complicated, right? Nope. Thankfully some intelligent programmers can make brain-busting blockchain simple for all of us to use.

I tested out the NFT Passport Multipass by HeyLayer. I want to know if anyone can quickly put their course, lesson, event, class, etc., on the blockchain.

I have to tell you; it was so easy. If you can fill out an online form, you can add a token to the blockchain.

NFT Passport Multipass

Multipass is an app you can download to your mobile device.

Downloading the app is optional. You can still award attendees the token but won’t have a central location to store it.

Users can add their tokens and view the event details within the app after clicking on the image.

Unlockable Content

The attendee will now be able to prove that they attended an event, training, class, etc., by showing their token. Bonus time - the token can unlock additional content. Add video, images, and unique website access to provide extra value or a surprise. Think of the possibilities!

Easy to Create

I am organizing a local workshop and want to give attendees proof that they learned all about digital wallet basics.

For me, the most challenging part was designing the token graphic. Should I do it myself in Canva or hire someone? Then I need to determine the “unlockable” content. I decided on an infographic showing the steps to take to keep your digital assets safe.

Once I had these two graphics ready, I filled out the Multipass form. Name, address, description, and upload the images. It was quick and easy. Now it is in the hands of HeyLayer to do their magic and add it to the blockchain.

Ready for Distribution

At the end of the presentation, I will show a QR code that they can scan with their mobile device (or I can email it to them). Once they scan it, it will go into their Multipass app (or direct them to a website where they can save it to their files). They can also view it in HeyLayer’s marketplace.

When they click on the token, it will take them to the screen displaying all the meeting details I had entered in the submission form and will unlock a graphic with additional course content.

Here’s the Proof

Attendees of my workshop can now prove they attended training and are proficient in a subject. They will take out their NFT Passport and show naysayers the evidence.

The Future

When these certification tokens become mainstream, we will be very doubtful of anyone’s credentials if they don’t have the proof to show on the blockchain.

We can document almost any type of attendance. Our digital passports and wallets will hold all the events we have attended. Concerts, seminars, classes, and events. We can show these to our family, friends, future employers, colleagues, and employers.

Conclusion

While “blockchain technology” can be a daunting term, the dApps, and platforms created with this technology quickly solve many of our current problems.

I’ll let competent developers like HeyLayer create these solutions. I am happy that I can use their products, such as Multipass, to quickly create a special offer for my attendees and undeniable proof that they attended my workshop.
